London Underground

A poem that was inspired by my journey through London today. Hope you enjoy :)

A vibrant darkness looms below: like
Headless poultry in a battery farm.
A commuter’s paradise; to and fro,
Alarm bells raise- don’t touch my arm-

Avoid the times of nine and five,
For this is when the rats do thrive,
Please ensure you mind the gap,
If you don’t you’ll turn to crap,

Acquire a taste for odious smells,
Embrace the chewing gum on your seat,
Read the paper: your face will swell,
The world is anything but sweet,

It’s hard to believe just what’s up there,
The wonderful novelty- of cold air,
The shadows turn a lighter shade,
The filthy particles- I shall evade!

A vibrant darkness looms beneath,
I prepare myself with gritted teeth.
